RuneScape looks like experiencing an overhaul to the whole system. Ironically, the motivation that drives the overhaul is, surprisingly, the weariness of playing "Bounty Hunter" from game developers.

Based on the latest post from the official RuneScape site, regardless of its horrid genre and two-year running history, Bounty Hunter, as one of the minigames of the game, is officially removed in Mar. 11 update and no longer exist. This kind of astonishing update doesn't actually come out of nowhere: as early as 3 days ago, there was a hotfix deployed to the game which specifically aimed at evacuating and expelling players from the minigame successively. This hotfix enables the functionality of sending everyone in the game a message about taking down Bounty Hunter three days later. And now, this content is buried under the six feet already.

Although some gamers do take the developers' side and accuse the discomfort and disheartenment they have to deal with every time after being overwhelmed and tortured to death by monsters and outcast players in the minigame, the fact that shouldn't be ignored is Bounty Hunter features not only an extremely hostile environment and higher-level access threshold than any other minigames, but also munificent reward and intriguing victory incentive system. But it does require more reasons to add up before a batch of players dodged it, unfortunately, RuneScape is the one stacking the last bundle of firewoods up beyond it and finally, set the Bounty Hunter on fire.

To regulate the players' behaviour in the minigame and provide general fairness to anyone, RuneScape developers successively issued a series of updates to perfect this game, including matchmaking mechanism, penalties of misbehaviours and so on. These are the contents gradually wear down the players and irritate them at some point. It's too late for RuneScape to realize what's going on after Bounty Hunter became a ghost town.

However, we are not here to engage in showing what kind of mixed experience Bounty Hunter has been through. What we care about is the chain reaction to this removal and the fact is, obviously, bigger than you can imagine. Here is the list of changes that recent update covers due to the removal of Bounty Hunter content.

  • Promote Mandrith to Slayer Master, and send him to deal with Wilderness tasks
  • 4 items have been removed from Mandrith's shop
  • Old Bounty Hunter rewards are redistributed into 7 different places
  • The Wilderness Shared Loot Table has been altered
